I sat at the base of the bodhi tree meditating for seven days and seven nights. On the seventh night when enlightenment eluded me once again, I turned to the tree and begged for an explanation. The tree looked back at me and with a wooden timbre replied: "At the expense of the world we inhabit, you have sought ascetic nirvana. Only through giving the gift of inner peace may one achieve it." As the great bodhi tree sank back into its ancient wooden slumber, I shouldered my belongings and set back into a world I had once forsaken. ________________________________________________________________________________ Arya Kaul (C) now - forever
